What can a $3k–$6k MVP actually include?

Plixy’s Validate package is $3,000–$6,000 for a focused web or mobile MVP, typically delivered in two to three weeks. The constraint is scope: one core flow that a real person can use to test your idea. The price range is our offer, not a claim about what every agency charges or a guarantee that any idea fits.

Choose the question your first release must answer

Suppose you want to build software for independent tutors. A useful first question is whether tutors will use a shared workflow to collect lesson requests and respond to them. That is narrower than building an entire tutoring marketplace. It gives you something you can put in front of prospective users and a behavior you can observe.

A hypothetical first scope could let a learner submit a request, let a tutor view and respond to it, and send a notification. The learner might use a simple form instead of creating a second full account type. A small admin view could use existing tools rather than a custom dashboard. We would validate those choices before quoting; this is a scope exercise, not a past client project or a promised package.

Keep the complete journey; postpone the extra product

  • ▸Keep the screens and data needed for the core flow, including a useful result at the end.
  • ▸Keep appropriate authentication, access controls, validation and handling for expected failures.
  • ▸Keep a way to learn whether users complete the journey, with monitoring to investigate failures.
  • ▸Postpone features such as matching algorithms, calendar sync, chat and advanced analytics unless the core hypothesis depends on them.

An excluded feature must have an explicit alternative. If you postpone payments, agree how the early pilot is funded or whether payment is outside the experiment. If you postpone an admin dashboard, decide how records are reviewed. A shorter feature list only helps when the remaining journey still works.

What the Validate package covers

Our published package includes design, build, production deployment, appropriate auth and database setup, source-code handover and two weeks of post-launch fixes for the agreed scope. You own the repository. The exact screens, roles, integrations and acceptance criteria belong in the proposal. The package description is a starting point for that discussion, not an unlimited feature allowance.

For a complete product with multiple flows, payments and an admin dashboard, our Launch package is $6,000–$15,000, typically over three to five weeks. Complex permissions, legacy data, offline sync or regulated workflows can require a separate scope. If the first version is too large, split it into a smaller testable milestone instead of pretending the complexity is free.

Use the calculator to compare scope choices

Our calculator estimates a web app with user accounts at $4,000–$5,500 at standard pace. Adding payments and a custom admin dashboard brings that illustrative range to $7,000–$10,000. That difference is a useful prompt to ask what must be custom at launch. The result remains a planning estimate; complexity within a feature can change the written quote.

Budget for operating the product too

The development budget does not pay every future bill. Hosting, database usage, transactional email, domains, payment processing, app-store accounts and AI usage can create recurring or third-party charges. Costs depend on the services selected and real usage. Identify who owns each account and who pays each bill before launch, and distinguish fixes within the included window from later feature work or a support retainer.

Agree on the first milestone before you pay for it

  • ▸Write the core user journey, what is included and what is deliberately excluded.
  • ▸Name the acceptance criteria and the working demo that completes each milestone.
  • ▸Confirm code ownership, service accounts, running costs and the post-launch fix window.
  • ▸Agree how a requested change affects price and delivery before it enters the scope.

Already have a prototype? Review what works before budgeting for a replacement. A security review or a focused rescue may be the right first step. For a new build, bring us the one journey you want to test and the constraint you need to work within. We can help turn that into a scope you can evaluate.
